Our process
How a Backyard Roo landscape build comes together
Ten steps from site survey to handover. Not every job needs all ten — but every job gets the same care with the parts you never see.
Step 01
Site survey & plan
We measure the site, levels, sun, access and drainage, and agree what you want the yard to do — entertain, play, grow food or simply be easy to look after.

Step 02
Clear & excavate
Old lawn, failing paving, weeds and rubble come out, and the site is dug to the depths the design needs.
Step 03
Grade & level
Ground is shaped so water runs away from the house towards gardens and soakwells.

Step 04
Drainage & services
Reticulation lines, drainage and any conduit for garden lighting go in before anything is built on top.
Step 05
Retaining & structure
Retaining walls and edges are built with footings, drainage behind and compacted backfill.

Step 06
Compact the base
Road base is laid and compacted in layers under every paved area — the step that stops paving sinking later.
Step 07
Paving
Pavers are laid to the chosen pattern with clean cuts and set falls, then edges are locked in.

Step 08
Soil & planting
Garden beds get improved soil, then waterwise plants grouped by water needs.
Step 09
Turf & mulch
Lawn areas are prepared and turfed, beds are mulched, and reticulation is set for establishment.

Step 10
Handover
We clean up, walk you through watering and care, and you get a yard that is ready to use.
